Born in 1962, Professor Mahmood Yakubu is a Bauchi State native. After finishing his primary school education at Kobi Primary School, Mr. Yakubu completed his secondary education at Government Teachers College, Toro.
Afterward, he enrolled at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University. He is the first and, to date, the only Nigerian from the North to earn a degree in history with a first-class certificate.
