Who Are Amanda Arciniega And James Finley’s Conjointed Twins?
Amanda Arciniega and James Finley of Saginaw, Texas, say they found out they were carrying conjoined twins during a prenatal scan.
Arciniega gave birth to her daughters at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth in October.
According to Dr. Ben Gbulie, a plastic surgeon at Cook Children’s, the 11-hour procedure on Monday required separating the girls’ liver and skin, fascia, and colon.

During the procedure, the medical staff was separated into two teams to care for the two girls, with AmieLynn’s team wearing green hats and JamieLynn’s team wearing purple hats.
According to Dr. Jose Iglesias, medical director of pediatric surgery at Cook Children’s Medical Center and the primary surgeon for the twins’ separation procedure, only a tiny number of conjoined twins survive through birth.
“There are only around five or eight conjoined twins in the world that reach and stay viable after delivery, at least for the first few days,” he stated. “So it’s a pretty unique circumstance.”
According to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which has performed more than two dozen separation surgery, conjoined twins occur once every 50,000 to 60,000 births, and around 75% of conjoined twins are female.
“They’re both doing fantastic,” he remarked. “The crew delivered beautifully, and we’re thrilled.”
Meet JamieLynn and AmieLynn: Conjointed Twins Separated
According to the hospital, the girls were delivered prematurely on October 3, 2022. They shared a liver linked from the bottom of the breastbone to the belly button.
The hospital’s representatives stated that their staff tried to improve the girls’ health, growth, and development while preparing them for surgery.
The Cook Children’s Medical Center stated that a team spent months preparing and cooperating for the twins’ surgery and running through many simulations of the procedure.
According to the hospital, the surgery team also included three anesthesiologists, four pediatric surgeons, two plastic surgeons, and 18 other clinical experts. They were divided into two teams, one for each girl, and worked together to separate the newborns.
AmieLynn and JamieLynn will continue to receive treatment from Cook Children’s Medical Center’s neonatology and NICU staff in the coming weeks and months, according to hospital spokespeople, with a focus on their recovery and ongoing growth and development.
“I’m quite optimistic that they’ll recover and have healthy lives in the future,” Dr. Iglesias added. “They’ll have a bit of a ramp up from recuperation, but I believe they’ll be able to get there eventually, and very near to, if not entirely normal.”
“AmieLynn and JamieLynn’s growth and development were just ideal for the procedure,” said Dr. Mary Frances Lynch, a neonatologist at Cook Children’s Medical Center. “
Separation now will assist AmieLynn and JamieLynn by allowing them to continue completing crucial milestones in their health paths.”
